Vasant Panchami or Basant Panchami or Saraswathi Pooja is celebrated today as the mark of the starting of the spring season. This day is dedicated to the goddess Saraswathi and is considered as an auspicious day to start any new work.
It's believed that Saraswathi devi was created by lord Brahma on this day.
That's the reason why the Vasant Panchami is celebrated today by doing poojas for Saraswathi.
