Hanuman Jayanthi!!!

Punjikasthala served as the gods' attendant. Her beauty was undeniable. She was extremely vain about her physical appearance. She insulted a sage once. The angry sage cursed on her that she would be reborn on Earth as a female monkey.

Upon realizing her mistake, Punjikasthala begged for forgiveness. The sage finally gave in, saying, "If you have a child who is an incarnation of Lord Shiva, the curse will be lifted."

Punjikasthala was born as Anjana, a female monkey, on Earth.

When Anjana grew up, she married a brave monkey named Kesari. The couple would like to have a son. To give birth to Shiva's incarnation, Anjana began to worship Lord Shiva.

Meanwhile, Ayodhya's King Dasaratha had been fervently performing a sacred yagna for offspring. From the sacrificial fire, a deity appeared and presented Dasaratha's wives with a bowl of divine pudding.

An eagle took a small piece of pudding in its beak and flew away, just to drop it where Anjana was meditating. Vayu, the god of the wind, blew the pudding into Anjana's outstretched hands. Anjana ate it, and she became pregnant with Hanuman, who was Lord Shiva's reincarnation. Anjana went back to heaven after the curse was broken.

According to the role that Vayu played in Hanuman's birth, Hanuman is also known as the son of the wind god Vayu, Pavanputra is the name given to Hanuman, which translates to "son of the wind."
